"During the battle on 17 May this NCO was sent several times by the Bn Commander to Company Commanders and reached them each time in spite of a continuous heavy concentration of enemy fire. He also protected with his own body and with disregard to his own safety, his Bn Commander, when the latter, on the same day, between 1200 and 1300 hrs, was exposed to enemy fire. When eventually his Bn Commander had been wounded he endeavoured to carry him to the RAP."
