The troop leader's tank was hit by enemy fire and crew seriously wounded, Cpl. Bec under heavy point blank machine gun and mortar fire went on foot to the destroyed tank, gave first aid to the seriously wounded members of the crew and brought them into a safe place, where they could be attended to by the Medical Officer.

He then returned to his tank and remained then in position continuing to fire until the rest of the Squadron had passed the danger line. Corporal Bec had at all times exhibited great courage and shown utter disregard for his own safety."
