"On night 17/18 APR 45, this soldier was despatches as SDR to 5 and 6 Brigade. The route was jammed with colns and the *** area was under heavy enemy fire. Appreciating the necessity of delivering his packages he quickly as possible, he left the road, disregarded mined areas and artillery fire, passed the colns and delivered the correspondence without delay. He is a soldier who fulfils every order without the slightest hesitation, without sparing himself, and with a supreme contempt for danger."
