"On the 19th May 1944, Staff Sergeant Major Stielers Squadron was taking part in an attack on the Passo Corno feature. When its first objective had been taken it was found that ammunition was running critically short, whereupon Staff Sergeant Major Stieller, on his own initiative and with complete disregard for his own safety, organised the further supply of ammunition to his squadron, under extremely heavy mortar and machine gun fire. His outstanding courage and his initiative restored a critical situation and enabled his squadron to continue the attack."
