"Corporal Cadet Weitzen showed great courage and devotion to duty during the battles which his Battalion took part in on the Adriatic Sector.

He was constantly at his Battalion Commanders call and never hesitated to carry out the most difficult and hazardous tasks, often carrying messages to Company positions under extremely heavy fire.

When seriously wounded in the leg, he refused assistance and made his own way back to an Advanced Dressing Station."
