Biography
Lived in The Hague. Member of the resistance and England sailor. After arriving in England, he became a secret agent with the Special Operations Executive/Plan Holland Bureau Bijzondere Opdrachten (Special Operations Executive/Plan Holland Bureau for Special Assignments). On 9 April 1942, he was dropped over occupied Dutch territory and arrested by the SD on 2 August 1942. Via the Oranjehotel and Haaren, he eventually ended up in KZ Mauthausen, where he was executed. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Cross by Royal Decree 33 dated 2 May 1953. De Haas was cremated in the Mauthausen concentration camp.
