"On May 27th, 1940, the tank in which L/Cpl. Hancox was gunner operator was pursued by an enemy heavy tank near NEUVE CHAPELLE. With complete disregard for his personal safety, L/C. Hancox liberated the wounded driver from the burning vehicle and accompanied him back to the nearest A.D.S. (Advanced Dressing Station red.) and thereafter rejoined his squadron by night."
