"On 19/5/40 at Marquion Cpl. Beilby completed the demolition of the main ARRAS-CAMBRAI road bridge under heavy fire from enemy tanks and infantry. This operation was paticulary difficult in view of the presence of large quantities of refugees mixed up with the advancing enemy. This N.C.O. showed great resource and courage in dealing with the situation."
