"For meritorious service in connection with military operations against the enemy during the period from 9 December 1944 until 17 April 1945 in Germany. In addition to his duties as stenographer for the Regimental Commander, Technician Fourth Grade Gohlke has, on a great number of missions, accompanied his commanding officer to serve as operations sergeant and assist with the operations maps. He has maintained, despite adverse weather conditions and enemy activity, an accurate and complete journal of all regimental operations. Technician Fourth Grade Gohlke has at al times provided maps of sections involved despite the rapid movement of units. Being a skilled draftsman, his rapid and accurate work on overlays has been of inestimable value to operations. His diligence and military skill are in accordance with the highest military traditions."
