"For galantry in action against the enemy near Unkel, Germany on 9 March 1945. Two rifle companies were unable to make headway against the enemy during the battle to extend the Remagen Bridgehead. First Lieutenant Weaver led his company over approximately 600 yards of open, flat, terrain in the face of heavy enemy fire to assault and overrun a strongpoint held by 75 of the enemy. Later, although wounded in the hand by a machine gun bullet, he traversed 150 yards of open territory under enemy fire to reach his leading platoon and deploy his company to eliminate another enemy strongpoint. His intrepidity end extreme devotion to duty are in accordance with the highest military traditions."
