"Distinguished himself through courageous action against the enemy in the early morning of 10 May 1940 as commander of the Communications Division, when enemy paratroopers and transport aircraft manned with troops landed on and near the Ockenburg auxiliary airfield, immediately deploying sections formed by him from his Communications Division and the Staff of the Grenadier Regiment against the enemy under enemy machine-gun fire, until this task was taken over by combat units of the regiment.
By this action, he contributed to preventing the enemy from advancing beyond the immediate vicinity of the airfield immediately after landing."
