Biography

John Demjanjuk (born Ivan Mykolaiovych Demjanjuk) was an Ukrainian SS-camp guard (Wachmann) in several concentration and extermination camps.

During his lifetime, Demjanjuk was prosecuted by the U.S. Government, Israeli government and finally the German government for war crimes against humanity. Demjanjuk was originally sentenced to death by an Israeli court, before being acquitted by the Israeli high court. Demjanjuk was extradited to Germany in 2012, where he was sentenced for a second time.

Demjanjuk died in a nursery home while waiting the outcome to his appeal.
