"PAUL A. CHIAPETTA, 31272206, Technician Fourth Grade, 262d Station Hospital, for meritorious achievement in connection with military operations in Italy from 27 November 1943 to 8 May 1945. As wardmaster of an Orthopedic Ward in a 500-bed Station Hospital, Technician Fourth Grade Chiappetta exhibited outstanding qualities of technical skill and devotion to duty in the management of his ward and in the care of the sick. While not a school-trained Orthopedic Mechanic, he applied himself to his tasks with exceptional diligance and proved himself well-qualified for his duties, which were more exacting than the care of other types of patients. In handling and caring for these patients, Technician Fourth Grade Chiappetta performed an unusually difficult task with exceptional devotion and skill and maintained exceedingly high standards. Entered service from Hartford, Connecticut."
