"This NCO has been in charge of the Fire Section for a year. He has never spared himself in his efforts to achieve and maintain the highest standard of fire fighting and has been largely responsible for training the personnel of the fire section. After an attack on this station by enemy aircraft , Sergeant [sic] Howarth showed great determination and courage in fighting the fires which resulted and, by his personal conduct, set a high standard to all concerned."
