Around 2:00 pm the 2nd Fife and Forfar Yeomanry arrives in the now partly liberated Deurne and continues in the direction of Bakel C sqn had the order for a reconnaissance at the Vlier (water stream) at the Bakelseweg in the direction of the Kaweische loop, which is believed to be the indicated location. About 20 meters just before the Kaweische loop, the front vehicle comes into contact with a German armored vehicle which had taken up position in the Kaweide. A few German tanks positioned in the Kuundert, also joined the fight.

During this battle Thomas Paget and Frederick James Cornwall went missing.
