Citation:
"Tpr Horton has distinguished himself throughout the operations, and particularly in Holland, by the gallant service and outstanding courage.
He has been driver of a turretless Honey tank which was always used to take ammunition up to fighting Squadrons whenever conditions were too dangerous for other vehicles to reach the area.
More than any other vehicles, Tpr Horton’s…managed to arrive, in spite of any amount of enemy shelling or whatever the difficulties.
On the “Island” North of Nijmegen, where the 4_7th RDG fought up to the river near Arnhem, in the Geilenkirchen battle and in the Sittard operations Tpr Horton rendered his most valuable services under very heavy enemy fire. The turretless Honeys were the only vehicles which could reach the Squadrons during six days and nights near Geilenkirchen and Tpr Horton ran the gauntlet time and time again in a non-stop effort to replenish the tanks.
Right up to the end of the war with Germany he continued to set a splendid example of quite bravery and devotion to duty."
