Bloody Angle Monument

This memorial at the Mule Shoe Salient in the Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park commemorates the fierce fights at Bloody Angle, in the Battle of Spotsylvania, after the attack of US Major General Winfield S. Hancock's II Corps on 12 May 1864.
The Battle of Spotsylvania Court House took place between 8 and 21 May 1864.
After a battle of 14 days and with the losses of in total over 4000 dead, 20,000 wounded and 8000 captured/missing, the battle was tactically inconclusive.
