Absalom Thompson House

The Absalom Thompson House, now the Oaklawn Mansion, was the headquarters of CSA Lieutenant General John Bell Hood during the Battle of Spring Hill.

The Battle of Spring Hill, on 29 November 1864, was a Confederate attack to prevent the Union troops to achieve Franklin. In the night of 29 to 30 november, the Union troops managed to escape so they were able the strengthen the Union defense line for the Second Battle of Franklin, the following day.
