Battle of Monocacy Monument

This memorial commemorates the Battle of Monocacy and the Confederate victims.
The Battle of Monocacy took place on 9 July 1864. The battle resulted in a Union victory because time was created for Union reinforcement to arrive in Washington D.C. to fight against the Confederate attack. In the battle, in total over 2,000 men were killed, wounded, missing or captured.
