14th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry Monument

This memorial commemorates the 14th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry, involved in the Battle of Monocacy.
The Battle of Monocacy took place on 9 July 1864. The battle resulted in a Union victory because time was created for Union reinforcement to arrive in Washington D.C. to fight against the Confederate attack. In the battle, in total over 2,000 men were killed, wounded, missing or captured.
