Marker Herron’s Attack

The 20th Wisconsin of General Herron managed to capture 4 cannons of Blocher’s Arkansas Battery, on this location, before being driven back, during the Battle of Prairie Grove.
The Battle of Prairie Grove took place on 7 December 1862 and resulted in a strategic Union victory. The Union lost 1,251 men (dead, wounded, missing of captured), the Confederates 1,317.
