Herstmonceux Castle

In a building of the Herstmonceux Castle is a display about the castle during war times, with some interesting items.

The castle itself was used during the was as accommodation for the staff of the Hearts of Oak Friendly Society, but was later also used as a military camp, as part of RAF Wartling. The camp housed up to 200 staff members at any point. Of the camp not a lot is left, outside some foundations.

The castle itself didn't see a lot of other action otherwise.

For current visiting hours, please contact the museum.
