Municipal Cemetery Rhees Herstal

The Municipal Cemetery in Herstal (Rhées) contains Belgian and German war graves from the First and Second World Wars.

The cemetery has a number of monuments to victims of both wars. There is also one Commonwealth war grave from the Second World War. It is that of an airman from the 139th Squadron R.A.F., ROONEY John, aged 20, who was killed in action on May 12, 1940.

Photo 5 shows the grave of resistance fighter RASQUIN Jules, who was shot by the German army 1944.

The central monument has a mortar on two sides.
