Liberation Memorial Veliky Novgorod

This 34.5 meters high memorial is dedicated to the liberation of Veliky Novgorod on 20 January 1944 and the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in general. The central figure of this memorial is a rearing horse with rider symbolizing the Soviet soldier. Underneath the belly of the horse is a mutilated swastika. The tower behind the sculpture is open to the public.

The monument "To Soviet Soldiers-Liberators - Eternal Glory" consists of an overarching frame on which and under which are named the various military units that took part in the liberation of Veliky Novgorod. It is located just below the large Liberation Monument, so they can often be seen together in a photo.

The monument stands on the outskirts of Veliky Novgorod on the bank of the river Volkhov. Novgorod Oblast.
