This memorial commemorates E.A. Lowdell Fenner who gave his life on 1 June 1900 in the Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902).

died on active service at Vrede O.R.C., S.
Africa 1st June 1900.
This tablet is erected by his old comrades
of Shoreham Compy 1st S.A.V.
as a mark of their esteem"
