Dutch War Graves Reformed Cemetery Gendringen

The Reformed cemetery in Gendringen contains several Dutch war graves, including those of:

J.W. Velthorst, born in 1876, and his granddaughter Rikie Velthorst, born in 1939.
On Liberation Day, a hand grenade hit the shelter. On 29 March 1945 in Voorst, the lives of J.W. Velthorst and his granddaughter Riki came to an end.

Antoon Zeevalkink from Gendringen (13 May 1923 / 23 March 1945)
During a bombing raid on German positions on 21 March 1945 at around 10.30 a.m., Antoon Zeevalkink was hit by a bomb fragment in his upper thigh while working in the fields. He was taken to the emergency hospital in Gendringen, where he died of blood loss on 23 March 1945.

Johan Hein from Gendringen (15 May 1912 / 24 March 1945)
Johan Hein, 32 years old and a shoemaker by profession. He was married to Gerharda Wilhelmina Rougoor. On 24 March 1945, he was hit by shrapnel from a rocket bomb during a dive bomber attack and killed instantly.

Antoinetta Theodora Oldenhave-Prinsen (20 November 1870 / 3 April 1945) (foto's 2 en 3)
Antoinetta Theodora Oldenhave-Prinsen, aged 74, was seriously injured on 30 March 1945 during the liberation of Gendringen. She died on 3 April 1945 in the hospital in Nijmegen. She was temporarily buried in the emergency cemetery near the hospital. On 3 October 1945, she was reburied at the Protestant cemetery in Gendringen. The grave is still there, but the headstone has been removed.
