Memorial Gen.-Maj. Colin M. Barber Moergestel

Moergestel was liberated on 25 october 1944 by the 15th Scottish Division. The statue is a reproduction of the Commander of the division, Gen.-Maj. Colin M. Barber, in his characteristic posture. General Barber was the tallest man in the British Army.

This memorial, unveiled in 1994, is situated near the Reusel river. The bridge across the river was blown by the retreating German Army. Trying to cross the river one allied tank got stuck. Only when a Scissor bridge was placed the division was able to move on.
