War Memorial Esquelbecq

This memorial (Monument aux Morts) on the church commemorates the residents of Esquelbecq who gave their lives in the First World War and the Second World War. It also commemorates the wars in Indochina (1946-1954) and Algeria (1954-1962).

This plaque on the church commemorates the Wormhoudt massacre. The Wormhoudt massacre, during the Battle of Dunkirk, took place on 28 May 1940. The Waffen-SS murdered 80 mainly British soldiers of the 144th Infantry Brigade of the 48th (South Midland) Infantry Division.
