S3a Casemate nr 43
Near the Via Regia you can find a Dutch casemate of the S3A type, also known as Porcupine. Type S3A has 3 shooting holes for a light machine gun and was built as a border guard with Belgium and had to guard the access road from Veldwezelt.
This was built in 1939.
After the war, a memorial plaque was placed here to commemorate the fact that the 113th Cavalry Group crossed the Dutch border here on 9 September 1944 during a reconnaissance trip.
