Simemi Bridge (Simemi Creek Bridge, The Bridge)

Simemi Bridge was an import crossing in the Simemi Creek (a formidable natural obstacle) during the Battle of Buna. The 2/9th Battalion crossed the bridge on 23 December 1942, prompting the Japanese to abandon their defense positions.

The current bridge is a replacement of the original.
