This memorial commemorates Prince Christian Victor of Schleswig-Holstein GCB GCVO DSO KStJ (Christian Victor Albert Louis Ernst Anton), the eldest son of Princess Helena, third daughter of Queen Victoria, who gave his life on 29 October 1900 in the South-African War (2nd Boer War).
