Memorial William R.S. Hurrell

The text on the boulder is:
IN MEMORIAM
F/SGT. ROYAL AIR FORCE
WILLIAM R.S. HURRELL
*1 -5 - 1923 † 26 - 9 - 1944

The plaque reads:
On the young age of 21 years William Hurrell gave his life for our freedom.
On 26 September 1944 he was hit during air combat. His aircraft, a Typhoon MN 852 (or MN 582?), carrying his body, dissappeared deep in the soil.
The body was never recovered, so the crash location is also his grave.

The exact position of the grave is 60 meters west of this boulder.

In 2019 the decision was made to excavate this aircraft. Tracesofwar will cover the news.
