Memorial 10 May 1940 Roermond

The monument, which was unveiled on 10 May 2010, is a lasting reminder of the battle fought by the Dutch soldiers of the 17th Border Battalion, Third Battalion 41st Infantry Regiment and the police forces. These soldiers defended the Maaslinie near Roermond in 1940 and waged a courageous, but unequal battle against a better equipped enemy in all respects.

The text on the monument:
"In Memory of the 17th Border Battalion, Third Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment and the Police Forces and their just but unequal struggle in the early hours of May 10, 1940"

At the monument there is also an information board with more information about the fighting in and around Roermond on that early morning of May 10, 1940.
