Crash Site Lancaster III LM580 DX-L

This monument is a work of art made from debris from the crashed lancaster. On the plaque you can read the history of this aircraft and the fortunes of her crew.

The artwork is by artist Julia Berger and the poem on the plaque was written by village poet Stan Mardaga. The debris and the monument were realized through the initiative of Mr. Wuyts in collaboration with the municipality of As.

The site is easily reached on foot or by bike after two hundred meters by following the cycle junction 40 at the As (Asch) station.
