This memorial column is located at Aalten General Cemetery next to the War Graves. The text on the column tell the story of:
- resistance fighter Cornelis Ruizendaal
- the crash of Short Stirling BK767 on 26 June 1943
- lieutenant John Andrew Cardew Duncan. He was killed during the liberation of Aalten. He is not buried here but at the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery.
- the liberation of Aalten on 30 March 1945
