Museum 'Lest we Forget' 1939-1945

This museum in the Achterhoek region, which originated from the Gordijn family collection, covers the course of the Second World War, starting with the First World War and including a detour to Indonesia.

There are 14 large rooms that together tell the story of the Second World War, from the run-up to the war, which has its roots in the First World War, to the liberation in 1945. Documents and objects are on display, and the everyday dilemmas faced by everyone during that period are also addressed. In addition, our own role as a colonial power in the Dutch East Indies has also been given a place in the museum. Finally, there is a room that takes you back to the origins of museums in the Netherlands.
