Invasion Beach Point Cruz
The Company A, B, D (1st Battalion, 7th Marines) landed here on 27 September 1942, but were repelled and were forced to evacuate back to sea. S1C Munro was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during this evacuation.
The 14th New Zealand Brigade also landed here during the Second World War.
