Memorial Killed Soldiers Leersum

This memorial commemorates eleven Dutch soldiers who were killed on this spot. Dutch text on the memorial (translated to english):

MAY 14TH 1940
VETERANS UNION
10TH R.I.
OF THE CANTON
VEENENDAAL

THEY REMAINED UNTIL DEATH
FAITHFUL TO THERE MOTHERLAND

ON THIS SITE ELEVEN
COMRADES WERE KILLED BY
OVERPOWERING ENEMY FIRE.

THEIR MISSION WAS
TO COVER THE RETREATING TROOPS
FROM THE GREBBELINIE.

THEY ARE SET TO EARTH AT
THE OLD CEMETERY IN LEERSUM.

WE REMEMBER THEM WITH GRATITUDE
