Crash Location B-17G Flying Fortress 42-31135 "Susy Sag Tits"

Project Lost Wings '40 - '45 has placed Memorial Signs in the Municipality of Emmen on the places where airplanes crashed during the Second World War.

Returning from a raid on Berlin on Monday 6 March 1944, B-17G FLying Fortress 42-31135 ‘Suzy-Sag-Tits’ was attacked by a German night fighter near the Dutch border. Damage was severe, causing the complete loss of the two starboard engines. Another hit caused a fire in the fuselage, forcing the crew to bale out. All managed to escape except Staff Sgt. Willard Reeves McGee, who by then was fatally wounded. Willard McGee is buried at the Military War Cemetery, Margraten in Limburg.
