American War Grave Mount Hope Cemetery

The Mt. Hope Cemetery contains the war grave of Aviation Chief Machinist Mate Peter J. Cirafice. He died shortly after making landfall April 5th 1945 after 10 days at sea and died of hypothermia and exhaustion and was buried on the island miles from his MIA location and then exhumed in 1952 and identified by the US Army recovery team and flown back to the States
