Commemorative Plates First World War Wakken

Commemorative plates at the side wall of the church of Wakken commemorate:

- The Belgian soldiers who fell here on 26 May 1940 during the Battle of the Lys.
- The soldiers of the French 152e Régiment d’Infanterie who fought here during the First World War.
- The French soldiers who fell here in 1918 at the liberation of Wakken.
- The residents of Wakken who served in Napoleon’s army and fell in the Napoleonic Wars from 1803 to 1815.
