Commemorative rug N.V.E.P.G

In the hall of an outbuilding of the Municipality of Groningen hangs a commemorative rug of the N.V.E.P.G. (Dutch Association of Ex Political Prisoners).
The basic color of the rug is white / gray striped and should reflect the prison clothing in the concentration camps.
The rug has the date 22-06-1955 and a capital H in a red triangle with the point down. The date of 06/22/55 is a reference to "Last Wekroep". The call was for the 10th congress from 22 to 25 June 1955 in the Twente Hallen in Enschede.
The capital letter H stands for Holland. The red triangle is a red equilateral triangle that is on point. She was a symbol of political prisoners. This included communists and other domestic opponents of the Nazis, freemasons and foreign political prisoners and resistance fighters. Most people were also given an identification number.

Next to the commemorative cloth hangs a shield of the N.V.E.P.G. which was presented together with the rug on April 10, 1991 to Mayor A.A.M.F.Staatsen of Groningen.
