Dutch War Graves Zuiderbegraafplaats

Next to the entrance to the cemetery is the caretaker's house, built in 1864. The national monument is a design by J.G.van Beusekom.

Major Lodewijk Willem Johan Karel Thomson, born in Voorschoten, June 11, 1869 and died in Durrės/Durazzo (Albania) on June 15, 1914. He was a Dutch military commander and politician. He is best known as the first Dutch soldier to die on a peacekeeping mission.
