Memorial Hertfordshire Regiment

This memorial is dedicated to the officers and men of the 1st Battalion Hertfordshire Regiment who fought in the Great War 1914-1918.

During the first day of the Third Battle of Ypres the Hertfordshire regiment attacked and got completely decimated by German fire. All officers and 75% of the soldiers got killed wounded or taken prisoner within 2 hours.

This memorial is erected at the furthest point of their advance.
