In commemmoration of the liberation of Westende on September 12th 1944 by the Essex Scottish Regiment of the Canadian Army and remembering the Canadian Victims Sgt. Edgar E. Rivait (age 25) and Pte. Douglas S. Lyttle (age 19)

Unveiled on November 1th 2020 in the presence of the honorary consul of Canada for Flanders Frédérik L. Agneessens and the town councel of Middelkerke
