War Memorial Mechernich

Memorial of the victims of the First and Second World War.

Already in 1921 there was a war memorial at the old church. In the same year, planning began for a new monument under the old church. Even in 1940 the monument was not completely finished.
After the war there had been plans since 1952 to expand the monument with plaques for the fallen and civilian victims. Demolition and reconstruction of the monument appears to have been completed in 1961. The complex was restored in 1985 and today consists of a semicircular stone wall with five three-part nameplates, each separated by a stone dividing wall. At the top are three crosses.
