War Monument Wezeren

The war memorial of the municipality of Wezeren is located in the cemetery at the Sint-Amanduskerk. It was established to commemorate the fallen soldiers and veterans of the First World War. Caspers Desire died in Hofstade (Mechelen) on August 25, 1914, when the Belgian army first attacked from the fortress of Antwerp. Savonet Victor died of illness in the prisoner of war camp of Dörnitz Altengrabow (Germany) where many Belgian soldiers were interned during the war.

After the Second World War, the names of the fallen and victims of this conflict were added.

In the parish report written in March 1919 after the First World War by Father Robijns at the request of Cardinal Mercier, it seems as if the war has passed the village by: parish Wezeren (Landen) nothing remarkable has happened. '
