Liberation Tree Ermelo

The tree stands in the opposite of the railway station of Ermelo.

On the plaque in front of the tree is the text:

Liberation tree
Fargus sylvatica 'Atropurpurea'
Red beech

planted on May 4, 1946
by Frederik Kasander, Aaltje Gijsbertsen, Steven van 't Slot,
Dientje van Panhuis and Levinus Wallinga,

"that the youth of Ermelo will see this tree grow and above all
the liberation of May 1945 will have ushered in a long peace era ".
