Belgian War Graves Mouzaive

The municipal cemetery of Mouzaive contains several graves of fallen.

MATHIEU François: soldier 2nd class 12th Line.
He was wounded in Boortmeerbeek on September 11, 1914 and was initially hospitalized in Antwerp.
It was not until May 19, 1917, that he died in Mouzaive from his serious injuries sustained during the fighting years before.

MATHIEU Nicolas (brother): soldier 2nd class 4th Hunters on foot in a special contingent of 1915. Fallen on the field of honour.
He was hit by machine gun bullets and died in Oostnieuwkerke. Initially he was buried there. In 1919 he was dug up clandestinely and transferred to Mouzaive where he was interred in his brother's grave.

WILLEME Albert: Sergeant 6th Ardennes Fighter 2nd Bat 6th Comp.
Fallen on the field of honor in Grammene. On 24 May he suffered serious injuries, he was treated in the hospital in Tielt, where he died a day later.
A street in Mouzaive was named after him.
