Memorial Wilhelm von Schoenaich - Carolath

During the German invasion of August 1914, Prinz Wilhelm VON SCHOENAICH - CAROLATH of the 3rd Regiment Ulaanen was mortally wounded on this site by a shot from the other side of the road.
He was taken to the temporary hospital in Meise, where he could just say that he had been shot by a Belgian soldier and not by a civilian.
That is why the entire village of Meise was not burned to the ground in revenge.
